January Coffee Morning
Join thousands of people across the UK this January to take part in the Positive About Mental Health cake and coffee morning.
Statistics show that unfortunately suicide rates in the UK are highest in January.
You can make a difference! The cake morning initiative is to start a conversation - raise awareness, reduce stigma, introduce mental health first aider's to staff or make staff aware of mental health support and resources available to them in the workplace.
To take part is easy - and we will have resources available to help support you in organising the event (available early January). This is an opportunity after a very difficult year for staff to open up and recognise the support around them when they need it most.
Raising funds can be a great idea, however staff can often feel under pressure especially after Christmas and could be struggling due to the financial impact of COVID. Instead of raising funds we are raising awareness, spreading kindness, encouragement and enjoying some cake, tea and coffee together. Donations are welcome to the not for profit Charity Positive About Mental Health.
All you need to do is get some doughnuts, cakes or biscuits (or fruit if your on a diet after Christmas) ready and put the kettle on - arrange for staff to have a brew and a natter to open up about mental health and to be made aware of the support channels available if they are struggling with poor mental health or emotional distress. It could make a difference.
The event can work really well remotely too (e.g Zoom) and is a great way of checking in on each-other.
We will have some fun staff games, quizzes and posters available early January including puzzles that can help slow down overthinking. You can of course use some of your own initiative.
The theme of the event is stars, colours and clouds. Keep it simple or make it as fabulous as you like, get creative and have fun!
To download this free poster add to cart and simply checkout - your ready to send it to staff. Choose which date works best for your organisation during January and share your good news stories to help raise awareness.
*Please help keep each other safe and observe the government COVID guidelines when meeting together.
